The Parking Box Seems Simple Enough, but Is It the Answer to Packed Garages and Homes?

Some people own homes with garages and enough space to store everything they need. Some folks even transform their garage into living spaces. However, there are plenty of us looking for storage solutions. I know I am; I have six e-bikes in the living room of a two-bedroom apartment. Well, Parking Box may be the answer we’ve been waiting for.

Folks, today we’re going to be taking a closer look at a rather simple solution for storing just about anything and everything you can fit in a garage, minus the car. I’m talking about a place to load your tools, spare tires, camping gear, and even bikes and e-bikes. This is the story of Parking Box (PB) and how they’re seeking to revolutionize the storage game.

Now, PB is a little crew from over in Europe, and the way I ran across the work they do was through a Facebook ad. I had been looking for storage rooms in my area to get rid of the e-bikes currently leaving mud in my living room. After taking a closer look at the result of this crew’s work, I decided to get in touch with PB to find out what was going on and how they were able to help me safely store six e-bikes somewhere near my apartment building.

It all started back in 2020, and like all great inventions, from necessity. Upon requesting a call from the PB crew, I was contacted by one of the employees currently working on the project, one of the co-owners! After some quick introductions, we started talking about how this crew decided to develop such a concept and how it’s meant to change our lives.

Everything starts off with an e-mail or a phone call to this crew. After more introductions, the PB team typically shows up on-site to take measurements – if possible – to determine just how big you want your Parking Box to be. You’ll also be asked about the sort of goods you’d like to store in your unit, after which PB crafts each unit to your needs and no one else. In short, everything you see in the gallery is custom-made, and that alone is worthy of some attention.

From here, those needs and wants are taken back to base, and a 3D render of your future storage unit is brought to life. Once you’ve all settled on the design, be it for indoor, outdoor, garage, or balcony use, PB readies aluminum and galvanized steel components to give birth to your unit. Even the rack systems we see are built of galvanized steel and can support up to 350 kg (772 lbs) of cargo per shelf!

Up to 30 days later, everything is ready to go, and before long, PB is back on-site to assemble your unit. Again, if possible. I didn’t ask, but some clients outside of PB’s area may end up shaping their units themselves or with the help of local artisans that know how to assemble something like this. Maybe there’s an instruction manual to do it yourself. Just a couple of details you can find out by giving this crew a call.

The result of that work? Well, take a look at the image gallery if you still need to do so. Units can be set up on your balcony, in your yard, in your garage, underground, above ground, or wherever you manage to get clearance for propping up something like this.

You can store your power tools, tires, oils and lubricants, and even outdoor living gear like snowboards, tents, kayaks, and even e-bikes. Again, the only limit is an actual vehicle like a car or motorcycle, but you can always take your motorcycle apart and store it as separate pieces; just kidding. As for myself, I need one of these for the e-bikes in my house, for those boxes that I refuse to throw away, and for tools.

But this story doesn’t end here. I sat down and thought things through further. I want you to imagine that you don’t own any cabin up in the mountains, but you know someone who does. Give that he or she a call and try and talk them into letting you set up a Parking Box on their property.

Why? Well, throw two bikes in there, some tools, and spare parts, and suddenly you’ve got yourself a little „Adventure Box,” just waiting for the weekend. Why not talk to someone with a lake house, store some kayaks and whatnot, and take simple day trips out of town on the weekends? Honestly, only your imagination is the limit here.

As for future plans regarding Parking Box and where things are headed, I want you to think of security systems, alarms, cameras, and even integrated fire extinguishers. The future is bright for this crew and worth considering if you’re in need of a storage solution that is tuned to your needs and wants.

Now, let’s say all this appeals to you, the ideas you have in mind, and the sort of life you lead. If that’s the case, you can expect to pay around €1,400 ($1,550 at current exchange rates) for the average unit. Of course, things can get a bit pricier if you need a larger unit or if it needs to be shipped to your current location. GG, Parking Box, GG.
